The official 8BitDo product page lists worldwide eShop pre-orders and the products’ core specifications. Windows Central reported that orders had opened, while TechPowerUp’s coverage adds detail on the layout and hardware.

8BitDo already has a Gears of War: E-Day limited-edition Xbox controller. The keyboard and mouse extend the themed accessory line to PC setups, but they are sold separately.

8BitDo Retro 87 keyboard: a compact layout with hot-swap switches

ProductUS priceListed ship dateKey details
Retro 87 keyboard$119.9930 October 202687 keys, hot-swappable linear switches, Bluetooth / 2.4GHz / USB-C
Retro R8 mouse$59.9930 October 2026PAW 3395 sensor, three connection modes, charging dock

The 8BitDo Retro 87 keyboard has 87 keys in a tenkeyless layout, so it leaves out the dedicated number pad found on a full-size board. Its linear mechanical switches sit on a hot-swappable PCB, which lets owners replace compatible switches without soldering. The keycaps and case carry the red-and-black E-Day styling, with RGB backlighting.

It connects over Bluetooth 5.3 LE, 2.4GHz wireless or USB-C. The built-in 4,000mAh battery is rated for up to 280 hours over 2.4GHz or 300 hours over Bluetooth, according to 8BitDo; the company lists charging time at four to eight hours. The keyboard also supports Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) and Android 9 or later.

The box includes the keyboard, a pair of Dual Super Buttons, a 2.4GHz adapter, cable and manual. The two programmable buttons can be mapped without software, while 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software V2 handles further key mapping and macros on PC. The separate buttons add a shortcut for common commands, as well as another item on the desk.

The Retro R8 mouse adds a charging dock

The matching Retro R8 mouse uses a PixArt PAW 3395 sensor and offers six DPI adjustment levels. Its symmetrical design supports left- or right-handed use, with four programmable side buttons. The included dock charges the mouse and acts as a signal extension for its 2.4GHz adapter.

The mouse’s maximum polling rate depends on its connection: up to 8,000Hz over USB-C, 4,000Hz over 2.4GHz and 125Hz on Bluetooth. 8BitDo rates battery life at 100 hours over Bluetooth or 26 to 105 hours on 2.4GHz, with the wireless figure varying according to polling rate. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results.

Pre-order prices and UAE availability

The 8BitDo Retro 87 keyboard is $119.99 and the Retro R8 mouse is $59.99 on the official shop, with shipping listed for 30 October 2026. Buying both separately comes to $179.98 before delivery or taxes. At the UAE dirham’s fixed rate of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar, that is about AED 441 for the keyboard, AED 220 for the mouse and AED 661 for the pair. These are currency conversions, not UAE retail prices.

8BitDo labels the product-page links as worldwide eShop pre-orders, but the listings show US-dollar prices and no UAE-specific price. Buyers in the UAE should check whether checkout accepts their delivery address and what shipping, import charges and taxes add before ordering; no local retailer listing was confirmed in the sources checked.

Does the Retro 87 keyboard have a number pad?

No. It uses an 87-key tenkeyless layout without a dedicated number pad, so people who regularly enter figures may prefer a full-size board or separate numpad.

Should I use the R8 mouse over Bluetooth for PC gaming?

Bluetooth is limited to 125Hz polling. The 2.4GHz connection supports up to 4,000Hz and USB-C up to 8,000Hz, so use either of those if you want a higher polling rate.

Is there a discount for buying the keyboard and mouse together?

The official shop lists separate product pages and does not advertise a bundle price. Buying both is mainly for matching E-Day styling and having the keyboard’s extra controls alongside the mouse.

Can buyers in the UAE pre-order the 8BitDo peripherals?

8BitDo describes its eShop pre-order as worldwide, but checkout must confirm UAE delivery eligibility and the final shipping cost. The product listings show USD prices, not an AED retail price.
