Capcom reportedly has no current plans to remake Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6, despite the publisher continuing to revist older entires in its survival horror series.
The claim comes from established Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, who says Capcom has not committed to remaking either game and currently has no clear idea how it would approach them. The insider was responding to speculation that Capcom had mapped out a long-term series of remakes leading into Resident Evil Requiem.
According to Dusk Golem, that supposed roadmap does not exist. Capcom is said to plan the franchise’s direction several years at a time before reassessing which projects should move forward, rather than following a single overarching strategy to remake every mainline Resident Evil game.
“There is no plan to remake RE5/Re6 right now,” the insider said, adding that the company is not presently attempting to connect its entire remake catalogue to Requiem.
Resident Evil 5 could still be remade eventually
Previous comments from Dusk Golem suggested that there is currently greater internal interest in remaking Resident Evil Revelations than Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6. The insider claimed that neither numbered game is something developers at Capcom particularly want to tackle at the moment.
That does not mean a Resident Evil 5 remake will never happen. Dusk Golem believes increasing fan demand could eventually convince Capcom to revisit the game, particularly after it completes Resident Evil Veronica and other reported remake projects.
Resident Evil Zero and the original Resident Evil are both reportedly being considered for new remakes, although Capcom has not officially announced either project. Dusk Golem also claims that Veronica and the rumoured Zero remake will contain connections to Resident Evil Requiem, but says this is because the projects were developed around the same period rather than as part of a wider master plan.
Resident Evil Veronica, Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026 and is scheduled for release in 2027. It represents Capcom’s next confirmed remake following the modern versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4.
For now, however, any Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 remake remains entirely speculative. Capcom has not announced plans for either title, and the latest insider claims suggest fans should not expect them anytime soon.
