Red Dead Redemption 2 players on PC can now try enRage, an early-access mod that gives strangers long memories and lets eight factions fight over territory. Created by nicklovin99, the project draws on the Nemesis idea from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor: an encounter can become a lasting rivalry rather than disappear when you ride out of town. Prima Games reports that the mod also adds interrogations, faction hierarchies, and newspapers that track events across the world.

The appeal is a version of Rockstar’s western where the people you antagonise have a reason to find you again. But enRage is still unfinished, and its creator warns that players may encounter bugs. Its sprawling feature list describes an early-access project rather than a finished overhaul.

Strangers can become recurring enemies

According to TweakTown’s report, enRage assigns strangers names, temperaments, quirks, trades, faiths, families, and backstories. Insulting, robbing, or attacking someone increases their grudge, while kindness reduces it. Those grudges can progress through Resentful, Vengeful, and Murderous states, with nemeses returning in towns where you previously encountered them.

Recognition gives those encounters another variable. TweakTown reports that wearing a mask prevents a grudge from forming unless someone sees your face, while enemies who survive gunfire can retain injuries such as a limp or a badly healed arm. Together, these systems aim to make a surviving opponent recognisable through more than a name above their head.

The personal side of the mod also extends beyond revenge. Prima Games describes town-specific reputation and the option to make peace with a nemesis through telegrams. That gives players another way to resolve a feud, rather than making every recurring encounter a fresh shoot-out.

Arthur’s relationships already provide much of the game’s emotional weight, something Rockstar has referenced when discussing the connection it wants players to form with GTA 6’s Jason and Lucia. enRage’s ambition is to extend persistent relationships beyond the central cast and into the strangers who populate the map.

Gang wars carry on without Arthur

At the faction level, the mod describes eight groups with leaders, officers, resources, and relationships. TweakTown names the O’Driscoll Boys, Lemoyne Raiders, U.S. Army, and Skinner Brothers among them, with three officer tiers beneath each leader. When members die, replacements can move through the hierarchy.

Prima Games reports that factions can form alliances, develop feuds, and fight over territory independently of the player. Arthur can watch those conflicts unfold or intervene by sabotaging supplies and targeting officers. Removing an enemy therefore feeds into a wider organisation, rather than ending with that encounter.

Interrogations offer a way to investigate those organisations before acting. Captives can reveal information about leaders, plans, supplies, and money, but fear affects how much they disclose, and some may lie or send Arthur into a trap. The proposed loop connects gathering information with choosing where and how to disrupt a faction.

The mod also records events in a world chronicle, while regional newspapers cover developments including gang wars, funerals, and the player’s exploits. Those records provide a way to follow conflicts that happen elsewhere on the map. Where recent Rockstar coverage has focused on GTA 6’s reportedly extensive explorable interiors, enRage focuses on giving the inhabitants of an existing world more history.

An unfinished PC Story Mode project

TweakTown dates the early-access upload to 17 October and lists ScriptHookRDR2 and ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2 as requirements. Players can find the release on the enRage Nexus Mods listing, which is the place to check its current files and installation instructions. This release targets PC Story Mode.

Prima Games reports that the creator says the systems operate independently of the main campaign’s story. The author has also disclosed using Claude Code to help develop the mod. Neither report establishes how reliably all of these systems work together, so the practical starting point is the current release’s requirements and known issues rather than the size of its feature list.

What do you need to run enRage?

TweakTown lists the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, ScriptHookRDR2, and ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2. Check the Nexus Mods listing for current installation instructions before adding the files.

Is enRage a finished mod?

No. It is an early-access release, and the creator warns that it remains unfinished. Prima Games also cautions that players may encounter bugs and systems that do not always work smoothly.
