PlayStation blacklists media outlets that covered the end of physical game discs, according to a report from gaming outlet High Chaos Run.
The report says several outlets that wrote about the death of physical media — including those that sourced High Chaos Run’s July story that PlayStation ended disc production without telling its publishers or partners — have landed on PlayStation India’s blacklist. High Chaos Run says PlayStation’s marketing staff named the outlet and its founder as the reason, telling them the coverage put PlayStation India in “bad light” and was done “for views”.
High Chaos Run says it learned of the blacklist when it asked for access to Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and upcoming titles including Marvel’s Wolverine and Phantom Blade Zero. The outlet also claims some media have been blocked on WhatsApp by PlayStation’s PR agency, on the company’s instruction — a notable step in a market where WhatsApp is the default channel for most press contact.

The reported blacklist is the latest turn in the fallout from Sony’s July announcement that physical disc production ends in January 2028. PlayStation has already faced “no disc, no buy” protest campaigns, PS5 boxes now warn buyers that physical games end in 2028, and staff were reportedly told to keep quiet as the backlash continued. The report also lands mid-way through #PSBlackout, the week-long player boycott running August 23–30.
High Chaos Run notes the move is not the first such threat: a year ago, Indian content creators were reportedly threatened with blacklisting over PS6 leak coverage. PlayStation has not publicly commented on the report. High Chaos Run says it reached out to the company and expects no response.
