Discord says it has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take-Two over the GTA 6 leak, Video Games Chronicle reports.
Take-Two filed DMCA subpoena requests against Microsoft and Discord on August 20 in its hunt for “cyberleek”, the persona behind the recent spate of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaks. New clips have appeared every few days, and reuploads have pulled in millions of views ahead of the game’s planned Netflix extended look on August 27. The publisher had earlier subpoenaed both companies in the same search.
The latest clips to circulate include gameplay from a neon-lit Vice City bar, the kind of footage Take-Two’s DMCA notices have been working to pull from social platforms. The update came from Ryan Rigney, Discord’s marketing director, on X, where he said the company will “evaluate the validity and scope” of the request before responding:
What the GTA 6 leak subpoena asks of Discord
The subpoena asks Discord for identifying information on every account that communicated in a listed set of servers, including CYBERLEEK, Ødyssey.gg and an editors’ server, from June 1 to the present. For each account, Take-Two wants the registration email, login IP addresses, phone number, linked Google or Xbox connections, device identifiers and any GTA-related content sitting in the account’s OneDrive.
Microsoft, named in a separate petition, has until September 4 to produce records from its own investigation of the cyberleek persona, as first reported by Kotaku.
The paperwork has moved, even if the delivery has not: Microsoft must respond by September 4, while Discord’s reply waits on service, and on its own read of the request’s validity and scope. The game’s extended look still premieres on Netflix on August 27, ahead of its November launch. GTA 6 is available to pre-order on Amazon.ae for UAE buyers.
