Finn Jones has described his return as Danny Rand in the MCU as “a wonderful gift”, ten years after the character last appeared in The Defenders. The actor spoke to IGN at New York Comic Con 2026 after the Marvel Television panel, where he discussed Iron Fist’s role in the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again.

“It’s wild to not play a character for 10 years and then come back after all that time,” Jones said. He framed the character as “a new version of Danny Rand”, an “evolved, grownup version” shaped by a decade of change for both actor and role.

What Danny Rand has been doing

Jones couldn’t reveal Danny’s storyline in Season 3. He did offer his own theory of where the character has been, and stressed that it’s his personal backstory rather than anything confirmed by the show. In his view, Danny has spent the years travelling “in various different secret orders”, probably in “ancient ruins in South America and in Asia”, honing his craft while going through “a lot of grief and a lot of joy”.

Jones calls the Danny of Born Again “very, very grounded”, with “a different quality to him”. That is a notable shift for a character who last appeared as a brash billionaire heir in the Netflix-era crossover.

Back with the Defenders

Jones also described being on set again with Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage). He remembered the atmosphere as “so charged”, with nerves and excitement in equal measure. The chemistry between the four, he said, let the cast “relax into the dynamic”.

He praised the writing of Danny this season, saying he read the scripts and had “no notes”. He also credited the stunt team led by coordinator Phil Silvera for being “so imaginative” in bringing Danny back.

The reunion has been building for months. tbreak has previously covered set photos of the full Defenders line-up and Marvel’s tease of Iron Fist and Luke Cage returning. Colleen Wing actress Jessica Henwick, meanwhile, won’t be part of Season 3.

Daredevil: Born Again returns for its final season in 2027. The series is reportedly ending with Season 3 as its showrunner exits. No UAE release details have been announced.
