Disney+ has launched its new app in the UAE, according to a release issued on 8 October. The app adds Junior Mode for kids, a redesigned homepage with personalised recommendations, and access while travelling in Europe, the US, and other supported markets.

Subscribers are prompted to download the new app and sign in with their existing credentials. On-screen steps then guide them through confirming their account and setting up their profile. The release offers pricing starting at AED 49.99 per month, with cancellation available at any time.

What changes in the app

The redesign centres on a dynamic homepage and simpler navigation. Recommendations draw on your viewing history and on what’s popular in your country. Disney+ also says it’s now easier to find content across Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, and the app supports up to 25 audio and subtitle languages, with high-quality video and sound on supported devices.

Travel access is the headline change. Until now, regional subscribers couldn’t keep watching abroad. Disney informed subscribers by email that the new version would work in Europe, the US and several other regions, and that prices would stay the same. Disney+ hasn’t published the full list of supported markets in the release.

Junior Mode gives younger viewers a dedicated interface with age-appropriate shows and films. It sits alongside the existing parental controls: PIN-protected profiles, customisable content ratings and notifications for profile changes.

The switch from the old app

The new app replaces the old regional one rather than updating it. According to Absolute Geeks, the replacement went live across MENA on 6 October, and the current app will keep working only until 5 November 2026. The site also reports that profiles, watchlists and watch history don’t transfer, and that new releases will appear only on the new app. Disney+’s own release doesn’t mention these points, so treat them as reported rather than confirmed by the company.

The rollout began on the evening of 6 October and is expanding progressively, so the app may not appear for every subscriber at the same time. The company unveiled the new app at an event in Riyadh ahead of launch. It also arrived alongside the Saudi-dialect dub of Toy Story 5, which we covered in our Disney+ app update story.

What to watch

The release highlights a handful of titles:

  • “The Kardashians” Season 8, “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 23 and “The Simpsons” Season 38
  • Marvel Television’s “VisionQuest” and the live-action “Moana”, due later this autumn
  • Turkish series “Halef” is coming, and Korean romantic comedy “Merry Berry Love” is streaming now
  • “The Remarried Empress” arrives on 4 November
Do I have to pay more for the new app?

No. The earlier notice to subscribers said existing subscriptions and prices remain unchanged, and the release lists the service at AED 49.99 per month.

When does the old Disney+ app stop working?

Absolute Geeks reports 5 November 2026. Download the new app and sign in before then.

Will my watchlist carry over?

Absolute Geeks reports it won’t, and that profiles and watch history won’t carry over either. Disney+ hasn’t addressed this in its release, so check the in-app prompts when you switch.
