Disney+ app update rolls out across MENA from the evening of 6 October, adding travel streaming, more personalised recommendations and stronger parental controls. The launch coincides with a Saudi Arabic dub of Toy Story 5 — the first film from The Walt Disney Company to receive a dub in the Saudi dialect, according to Saudi Gazette.

What changes in the Disney+ app update?

The new app will let subscribers stream while travelling across the Middle East, Europe, the United States and beyond. Recommendations will also adapt to each viewer’s preferences over time. Disney has not published a country-by-country list of travel destinations or said how subscribers can reset recommendations in the Disney+ app update; Arab News reported the travel feature alongside the regional rollout.

The change is distinct from Disney+’s previously reported test of AI-powered search: this announcement describes personalised recommendations, not a new search feature.

Parents will get stronger controls and Junior Mode, called عالم الصغار in Arabic. Disney describes it as a dedicated area with content selected for younger viewers. Arab News reports that the controls will let families restrict adult content and create PIN-protected profiles, although Disney has not published a full settings list.

Disney+ app update: October’s release dates

The new experience arrives with a run of October releases. Disney’s announced dates include:

  • Merry Berry Love on 7 October
  • The Kardashians season 8 on 8 October
  • The Simpsons season 38 on 12 October
  • Marvel Television’s VisionQuest on 14 October
  • Grey’s Anatomy season 23, due in October, with no specific date listed

Disney also said the live-action Moana is coming in autumn, without giving a day. The Korean series The Remarried Empress is due on 4 November. The dates and titles were also reported by Campaign Middle East, which published the announcement details.

Toy Story 5 gets Disney’s first Saudi Arabic dub

The Saudi-dialect version of Toy Story 5 is due on Disney+ from 6 October, alongside the film’s Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian dubs. That makes it the company’s first film dubbed in the Saudi dialect, not its first Arabic-language dub overall. The Saudi voice cast includes Ibraheem Khairallah as Buzz Lightyear, Sohaib Qudus as Woody and Reem Alhabib as Jessie.

Other named cast members include Malik Nejer as Smarty Pants, Aseel Seraj as Lilypad, Yaser Al Saqaf as Atlas, Aseel Morya as Snappy, Mohammad Al Qass as Mr. Pricklepants, Abdullah Rafeaa as Forky, Shahad Al Ahmari as Bo Peep, Rahaf Al Zaidi as Trixie and Fares Al Yahya as Duckie. The production also lists Saudi creators including Mohammed Salem, Khawlah Al Saif, Yasmeen Al Shafei and Mohammed Shamsi.

The 6 October date is for the Saudi Arabic version, not the film’s first streaming day in the UAE: Toy Story 5 became available here on 23 September, as we reported earlier. Disney has not given UAE subscribers a separate rollout time beyond saying the new app arrives across MENA during the evening.

Will the UAE Disney+ catalogue stay the same while I travel?

Disney has not said whether subscribers will see the same catalogue abroad. The announcement confirms travel streaming across the Middle East, Europe, the United States and beyond, but does not explain how available titles change by destination. Arab News reported the travel feature.

Does the Disney+ app update add offline downloads for flights?

Disney has not confirmed offline downloads. The announced change is streaming while travelling; the release does not list offline playback among the new features. Campaign Middle East published the app details.

Is Junior Mode a separate paid plan?

Disney describes Junior Mode as a dedicated space for younger viewers within the service and did not announce a separate subscription tier or price. The release details are available here.
