Meta is rolling out a tool called Your algorithm on Facebook, which lets people describe in their own words what they want to see in Feed and Reels. TechRepublic reports that Meta announced on 13 October an AI-powered feature that lets users influence recommendations through natural-language descriptions of their preferences. It’s a shift for a platform that has mostly guessed what you like from what you tap, watch and linger on.

The controls sit in the three-dot menu on a post. That menu opens a dedicated space where users add and manage the topics they want to see more or less of. The “Interested” and “Not interested” options also change. After a tap, Facebook may now ask a follow-up question so users can explain their reaction in natural language. Meta says recommendations update in real time and adapt within the same session based on that input.

Large language models do the interpreting. As reported by Indian Television, Meta says they help read the interests and intent users express, and the system combines those instructions with existing behavioural signals. Facebook still decides how content is ranked, so the feature adds another input rather than handing users control of the feed.

Facebook is the latest Meta app to get the idea. Unite.ai reports that Instagram announced Your Algorithm on 10 December 2025, starting with the Reels tab in the US, and that by 10 June 2026 it was available across Feed, Reels and Explore globally in English. Threads has a related feature called Dear Algo, available in the US, New Zealand, Australia and the UK. That Threads history is a reminder that Meta has staged these rollouts by market and language.

For readers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, availability is the open question. Meta’s announcement doesn’t give rollout countries, supported languages or a date for every account. MediaNama checked an India-based account and found neither Your algorithm nor similar features available on Facebook, Instagram or Threads there. We recommend opening the three-dot menu on a Facebook post and checking for the new topic controls before assuming you have them. Updating the app first is a sensible step.

Where do I find Your algorithm on Facebook?

Tap the three-dot menu on a post in Feed or Reels. Meta says that menu is the way in to the space where you add and manage topics, and it has been updated to make the new tools easier to find.

Is Your algorithm available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Egypt?

Meta hasn’t confirmed which countries or languages are in the rollout, and we found no regional confirmation. If the option doesn’t appear yet, the existing “Interested” and “Not interested” taps still work.

Does it replace likes and watch time as signals?

No. Meta says the system reads your written preferences alongside existing behavioural signals, so what you watch and engage with still shapes your feed.
