Samsung’s cheaper Galaxy S27 phones will reportedly miss out on a better selfie camera. According to SamMobile, citing a report from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S27 and S27+ keep the 12MP front-facing autofocus camera found on the Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a new 16MP selfie camera. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of it.
If the report holds, the standard models will keep the same sensor for a long time. PhoneArena notes that Samsung first introduced the 12MP selfie camera in 2023 and hasn’t changed it since, which would make the S27 and S27+ the fifth year in a row on the same hardware. What the new 16MP unit looks like is still open. It remains unclear whether these models will use a larger sensor or adopt a square format similar to recent iPhones. A square sensor would allow landscape selfies without rotating the phone.
The front camera isn’t the only place where the tiers part ways. Android Headlines says the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus are expected to keep a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP 3x telephoto. The Pro and Ultra reportedly step up to a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide. The Pro is expected to carry a 12MP telephoto with 3x or 3.5x zoom, while the Ultra gets a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto. The same outlet adds that the Pro and Ultra are rumoured to get LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5 storage, and to use Qualcomm’s most powerful chip in some regions.
That gap shapes how the range reads. Android Headlines points out that Google’s Pixel 11 Pro XL already has a 42MP selfie camera, and that the S27 series is also expected to cost more than last year’s. It also suggests Samsung may want the split, since the new Galaxy S27 Pro sits between the Plus and the Ultra and needs reasons to pull buyers up the ladder. Our earlier coverage of the S27 price leak covers the other side of that tiering.
For UAE buyers, there’s little to act on yet. We haven’t seen any Samsung announcement, UAE pricing or local availability for the S27 range, and Android Headlines says the lineup is expected in early 2027, so plans could still change. If selfies and video calls matter most to you, we recommend waiting for official specs and UAE prices before choosing between the S27, S27+, Pro and Ultra.
Will the Galaxy S27 get a better selfie camera than the S26?
According to the current report, no. The Galaxy S27 and S27+ are said to reuse the S26 series’ 12MP autofocus front camera, while only the Pro and Ultra get a new 16MP sensor.
Which Galaxy S27 models get the 200MP main camera?
Android Headlines says the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are rumoured to get the 200MP main camera. The S27 and S27+ are expected to keep the 50MP main camera.
When will the Galaxy S27 launch, and what will it cost in the UAE?
The range is expected in early 2027. Samsung hasn’t announced a date, and no UAE pricing has surfaced.
