Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 could use an opt-in AI feature called Recaps to summarise a user’s day from microphone, GPS and other sensor data, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by 9to5Mac. Apple has not announced the feature, and the details remain unconfirmed ahead of its September 9 event.

Apple Watch Series 12 Recaps could listen without saving audio

The reported feature would use the watch’s microphone, location data and other sensors to build a daily summary, including conversation summaries. Users could reportedly choose whether Recaps runs all day or only at selected locations, with the results stored in the new Siri app.

The report says Apple would not keep audio recordings or show a transcript of conversations. The feature is also expected to be opt-in, addressing the obvious concern around a watch that spends its day quietly collecting context. Apple’s existing Siri AI plans emphasise personal context and privacy, but the company has not tied those announcements to Recaps.

Which Apple Watch models could get Recaps?

Bloomberg’s report points to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, which are expected to use new chips capable of processing incoming audio samples securely. That hardware requirement would leave older watches out, although Apple has not published a compatibility list.

Apple has not confirmed an Apple Watch Series 12 price, release date or UAE availability. The UAE store currently lists the Apple Watch SE 3 from AED 999, Apple Watch Series 11 from AED 1,599 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 from AED 3,199. A September launch is expected because of Apple’s event timing, not because Apple has announced one.
