The Spider-Noir cancellation comes despite strong audience and critical scores. The series holds a 92% critics’ rating and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while its 11 Emmy nominations made it Prime Video’s most-nominated series of 2026.
The show opened at No. 2 on Nielsen’s US Top 10 for original series, with 851 million minutes viewed in its first week. Across its first six weeks, it generated 2.6 billion viewing minutes in the US, but it fell out of Prime Video’s daily Top 10 relatively quickly.
Deadline says the production’s cost also formed part of the calculation. The series filmed colour and black-and-white versions, and streamers generally weigh a show’s cost against its viewing performance when deciding whether to continue it. Variety’s report also confirms that the series ended after eight episodes.
