Abu Dhabi will host the UAE’s first international professional sumo competition when All-Star Sumo arrives at Space42 Arena on Saturday, 26 September 2026. Nine wrestlers from Japan, Mongolia and Egypt will compete across 36 bouts.
The event is hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with USA Sumo and Space42 Arena. The line-up includes Emperor’s Cup winner Ichi, Japan’s Hiroki and Egypt’s Ramy El-Gazar, alongside competitors from Japan and Mongolia.

The programme will include a formal ring-entering procession and the traditional preparation before each bout. Live taiko drumming, food and beverage, and sumo souvenirs are also listed in the event announcement.
Mohamad Yehya, General Manager of Space42 Arena, said the competition would give audiences an opportunity to experience a sport with a rich history and traditions. The organisers describe the format as a round-robin competition, with the wrestler holding the best record crowned the inaugural Abu Dhabi champion.
