Marvel is reportedly developing a new live-action Disney+ project that could involve the Young Avengers or the New Mutants, although neither team has been confirmed as the subject.

The report comes from IGN, which says Marvel has registered a new production company called Veil Productions for a television project using the codename “Slumber Party”.

What the Marvel Young Avengers project could be

The production-company name may point towards a character or theme, but there is no official confirmation of what Veil Productions is making. IGN notes that Veil is also the name of a young Avengers Academy character in Marvel Comics, while “Slumber Party” is the title of New Mutants #21, which introduced Warlock.

The Marvel Young Avengers have been teased across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A Marvel Young Avengers project would bring those existing threads together, although the studio has not said that is the plan. Ms Marvel’s Kamala Khan was last seen trying to assemble a team with Kate Bishop, while other possible members include Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Riri Williams, Billy Maximoff, Tommy Maximoff and Eli Bradley.

Marvel’s official Young Avengers character guide confirms the team’s comic-book history, but it does not announce a new live-action project. The studio has also not confirmed that the production is connected to the New Mutants.

When could Marvel announce it?

Marvel Television and Marvel Animation are scheduled to appear at New York Comic-Con on 8 October. That would be a plausible place for an update, but the panel is not confirmation that this project will be announced there.

Marvel has been moving more selectively with new live-action series after a busy run of releases. A Young Avengers project would also fit the characters already introduced in the MCU, while a New Mutants project would connect more directly with Marvel’s developing mutant plans.

For now, the project remains an unconfirmed report. The codename and production-company registration suggest that something is being developed, but they do not identify its cast, format, story or release date.

Has Marvel confirmed the Young Avengers project?

No. The production company and project codename have been reported, but Marvel has not confirmed the project’s title, characters, format or release date.

Who could appear in a live-action Young Avengers project?

Possible MCU members include Ms Marvel, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Riri Williams, Billy Maximoff, Tommy Maximoff and Eli Bradley.

When could Marvel reveal more?

Marvel Television and Marvel Animation are scheduled for a New York Comic-Con panel on 8 October, but there is no confirmation that this project will be announced there.
