Samsung’s next major software update could be much bigger than the usual yearly polish. Well-known Samsung leaker Ice Universe says One UI 10 will bring “unprecedented in nature” changes and debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 9. Samsung hasn’t commented on either claim.

The leak builds on a rumour from earlier in the week. As Android Headlines reported, tipster Phonefuturist first claimed Samsung was planning a complete software overhaul, with talk of a possible “Galaxy OS” rebrand. Ice Universe then posted on X on 17 October that an independent source of his had confirmed significant One UI 10 changes.

The post doesn’t say what the changes are. When a follower asked whether One UI 10 would arrive with the Fold 9 or the Galaxy S28, he answered with one word: “Fold9.” That points to summer 2027, when Samsung usually launches its foldables. It also clashes with the original rumour: PhoneArena says Phonefuturist tied the change to the Galaxy S28 series, which would mean a later start.

What the overhaul is said to involve

Details come from a source close to Nokia Power User. GSMArena reports that the source describes a change in philosophy rather than new features and a fresh look. Lowyat.Net summarises three themes: less app-hopping, fewer taps and hidden menus, and tighter cross-device handoffs between phones, tablets and wearables. Android Headlines adds that the idea is to group calendar, maps and chat information into one contextual view, with AI predicting what you need.

SamMobile reports the software will likely be based on Android 18. Sammy Fans adds that Samsung is working with Google on a “redesigned architecture”. Neither outlet shows screenshots or a feature list, and Lowyat notes there’s no official word on One UI 10 yet.

What Galaxy owners in the region should do

Nothing yet. Samsung hasn’t announced One UI 10, a beta programme, or which devices will get it, and Samsung hasn’t given any regional timing. GSMArena’s source says early developer previews should arrive well before the final release. The same source advises against delaying a hardware upgrade just for One UI 10.

When is One UI 10 expected?

Ice Universe says it debuts with the Galaxy Z Fold 9, which points to mid-2027. The original Phonefuturist rumour pointed to the Galaxy S28 instead, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed a date.

Will One UI 10 be renamed Galaxy OS?

That’s a separate rumour from Phonefuturist, and Ice Universe’s post doesn’t mention a rename. Samsung hasn’t commented on it.

Should I hold off buying a Galaxy phone for One UI 10?

No. According to GSMArena, the source behind the Nokia Power User report advises against delaying a hardware upgrade solely for One UI 10. Nothing is official yet, so there’s no confirmed device list or release date.
