Apple has opened Siri AI to any third-party app, but the feature only exists in developer testing for now. In a 3 November post on Apple Developer, the company said a new Developer Preview in the iOS 27.3 betas allows any app to bring its content and actions directly into Siri AI by using App Intents. For UAE readers there’s a second catch: Siri AI is still English-only here, so the feature won’t reach an iPhone set to Arabic.

The Verge first framed the change as Apple letting Siri AI act across third-party apps. The detail that matters is the word “preview”. Developers can now build and test integrations, but they can’t ship them to customers yet.

What Siri AI can do inside an app

App Intents is the framework apps already use to describe their actions and content to Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. Under the preview, Apple says apps can tap into Siri AI’s personal context understanding, onscreen awareness and natural language requests, so people can ask in their own words instead of memorising exact commands. Apple’s examples of custom actions include checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order.

For more involved jobs, Apple is also introducing “skills”. These let developers teach Siri AI how to combine several actions into a single experience. Apple’s documentation, as quoted by The Verge, says users won’t have to name the app when it’s in the foreground, running a Live Activity, or already part of a conversation with Siri AI. Its example is a ride-hailing app: you book a ride, watch the Live Activity while you wait, then say “Hey Siri, change my ride pickup to a new address” without naming the app again.

Apple’s own apps get the expanded abilities first. Apple says it has started rolling the capabilities out across Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather, with requests like finding a coffee shop you visited last week or archiving files that haven’t been opened in over a year. Apple also suggests asking Siri AI what it can do in each app, which is the quickest way to find out what’s been wired up.

When you’ll see it in third-party apps

The preview is a build-and-test window, not a launch. Cult of Mac reports that Apple says iOS 27.3 will reach the public in December, but the third-party side runs on a slower clock. Apple expects the first integrations to reach customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in the spring, though it hasn’t given calendar dates for either. PPC Land adds that the App Intents API and Siri’s behaviour may change during the preview, which is one more reason developers will treat this as a trial run.

Opening the door also doesn’t mean every app walks through it. An app has to expose its own actions through App Intents, so how much Siri AI can do in a given app depends on how much its developer builds. iPhone in Canada notes that terms and usage policies for Siri AI experiences are still to come, which could shape how quickly big app makers commit.

What it means in the UAE

Siri AI needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, and Apple says the device must be set to a supported language. Arabic isn’t on that list. The Siri AI languages today are English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, according to iPhone in Canada, and Apple says it will soon expand to Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese. Apple’s UAE support page puts it plainly: Siri AI (Beta) is currently available only in English.

In practice, UAE users who want these app actions will need Siri set to English, and the Arabic-language experience stays on the older Siri. Apple hasn’t announced an Arabic date for Siri AI in anything we’ve seen. If your favourite delivery, ride or booking app adds Siri AI support next year, an English-language request is the only way in.

Can I use Siri AI with third-party apps now?

No. The Developer Preview is for developers on the iOS 27.3 betas, and the preview doesn’t carry over to App Store versions of apps. Apple says App Store submissions for these integrations open in the spring.

Does Siri AI work in Arabic in the UAE?

No. Apple’s UAE support page says Siri AI (Beta) is available only in English, and Arabic isn’t in the languages Apple has listed as live or coming soon. Your device and Siri language need to be set to English to use it.

Which third-party apps will support Siri AI?

Apple hasn’t named any. Each developer has to add support through App Intents, so coverage will depend on which app makers build it once submissions open. Apple’s own apps, including Mail, Maps, Messages and Photos, are the ones to try first.
