On 3 November 2026, Saudi Arabia launched the AgentX AI Hackathon in Riyadh, where teams turn ideas into prototype AI tools built for specific industries. The Saudi Press Agency announced it.

Its full name, the AgentX AI Hackathon for Employment and Business Solutions, gives away the goal. It isn’t a coding contest for its own sake: organisers want to match technical skills to what the job market needs. The event runs in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), which sets the Kingdom’s digital and ICT policy.

According to the agency, the hackathon brings together innovators, developers, and AI enthusiasts working in multidisciplinary teams. Participants also get time with experts and a look at careers in promising technology fields. The brief for their projects is practical:

enhance operational efficiency, improve service quality, and increase productivity

The agency doesn’t name a prize, a venue, an end date, or who can enter.

AgentX joins a run of Saudi programmes built to grow local tech talent. Oracle’s Mostaqbali plan aims to train 50,000 Saudis, and Savvy Games teamed up with Roblox to train developers. Because the ministry is a partner, the hackathon ties directly to the Kingdom’s digital and ICT policy.

Whether any prototypes become products, or the teams behind them land jobs, is the result to watch.
