Nothing OS 5.0 open beta is now available for the Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (3a) Pro and Phone (3a), expanding the Android 17-based software test to three more phones. Nothing announced the expansion on 22 September, while the stable release remains scheduled for early November for all three models, subject to regional and carrier phasing.

The beta is Nothing’s version of Android 17, with a refreshed interface, wallpaper-aware colours, transparent widgets, updated icons and new clock faces among the visible changes, according to Nothing’s official rollout page. 9to5Google reports that the redesigned home screen and Micrographics clock face are still in development, so they will arrive with the general release rather than this beta build.
Nothing OS 5.0 open beta access follows the Phone (4a) Pro, which joined in early September, and the Phone (3), which started the programme on 26 August. The Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus are next in Nothing’s schedule, with the beta listed for mid-October.
What Nothing owners need to know before installing
Nothing says eligible phones must be running the required stable build and the latest Nothing Beta Hub V2.0. Owners can check for the update through Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub, then select Check Version and Join Beta. The company says the update may take up to five minutes to appear after registration.
The beta is pre-release software. Nothing warns that it may affect stability, battery life and performance, and recommends backing up photos, contacts, messages and call logs before installation. Rollback is available through the Beta Hub, but the process can erase the phone’s data.
