Al-Futtaim Lexus has launched the RZ 500e in the UAE at AED 255,000, bringing a fully electric SUV to its local line-up. It arrives in a single Platinum all-wheel-drive grade, with a 74.6kWh battery and a claimed range of up to 460km.
The RZ shares its UAE launch with the new ES hybrid and electric sedan, giving Lexus buyers a choice of body styles and powertrains. For the SUV, the pitch combines quick acceleration with familiar Lexus priorities: cabin quietness, comfort and support after the sale. The official UAE line-up also lists the RZ at AED 255,000.

What does AED 255,000 get you?
The UAE range starts with one well-equipped version: the RZ 500e Platinum AWD. Lexus highlighted a 14-inch multimedia display, Mark Levinson premium audio and its Safety System+ 3 driver-assistance package at the launch. The cabin follows the brand’s Tazuna layout, with the display and controls arranged around the driver. If you are comparing finance quotations, our Al-Futtaim Flex Drive explainer explains why the full repayment schedule matters alongside the initial monthly payment.
Quietness is a particular focus. Lexus says it has used acoustic glass, improved sealing and targeted insulation to reduce the noise reaching occupants. Those details will need a proper drive to assess, especially on UAE highways, but they help explain where Lexus wants this car’s appeal to sit. The company also announced ten exterior colour combinations and three interior choices.

How powerful is the RZ 500e?
The RZ 500e produces a claimed 375hp and reaches 100km/h from rest in 4.6 seconds. Its DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system varies the driving force sent to the front and rear wheels as conditions and driver inputs change. Lexus positions that system as part of the car’s stability and responsiveness, alongside the outright acceleration.

What can UAE buyers expect from range and charging?
Lexus quotes up to 460km from the 74.6kWh battery and approximately 30 minutes for a 10–80% charge using DC fast charging. The latter describes a charging window on a suitable fast charger; it is not the time needed for a full charge at home. Actual charging speed will depend on the charger and battery conditions.
The more useful question locally is how that range holds up with the air conditioning running through summer. Speaking to Tbreak after the launch, Jacques Brent said the vehicles had received changes for Middle Eastern conditions, while acknowledging that high temperatures still affect range. He did not provide a measured UAE summer range figure.
There is some detail behind those changes. Lexus’s official Middle East RZ announcement specifies regional air-conditioning tuning, infrared-cut glass to reduce heat entering the cabin and seat ventilation. It also describes water cooling for the electric drive system. These explain part of the engineering for regional use, but do not establish how many kilometres an owner will get on a hot day.
Who is the RZ 500e best suited to?
Charging access will matter as much as the specification sheet. In our interview, Brent identified city commuting as a strong use case for the electric models and said a hybrid could suit long-distance commuting or apartment residents facing charging difficulties. That makes where you park and charge a useful starting point before choosing the RZ.
Brent also said a mobile charger would come with the vehicle, with wallbox installation available through Al-Futtaim’s Charge2MOOV network. He did not confirm that the advertised price included a wallbox and installation. Buyers should establish the installation cost and what their property can accommodate when arranging a quotation.
At AED 255,000, the RZ gives existing Lexus owners a direct route into an electric SUV. Its cabin refinement and local ownership support are central to the proposition. A test drive, a clear charging arrangement and a realistic assessment of your daily distance will say more about its suitability than the acceleration figure alone.
