Dubai Police have added the Lamborghini Temerario to their luxury patrol fleet, putting a hybrid supercar that does 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds on duty in the emirate’s tourist areas. Gulf News reports that the car was introduced in partnership with Lamborghini Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Temerario is the latest in a line of exotic patrol cars that has become part of the city’s image.

What’s under the bonnet

The Temerario is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors, which together produce 920 horsepower. That makes it a plug-in hybrid rather than a conventional petrol supercar. Lamborghini’s model page lists a 343km/h top speed alongside the 2.7-second 0-100km/h time. The reports we’ve seen don’t detail the patrol car’s extra equipment, such as livery and lights.

Why Dubai Police keep buying supercars

The cars are a community tool more than a pursuit vehicle. Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, said the fleet strengthens community engagement, calling it “an innovative approach to policing”. Colonel Mohammad Abdulrahman Abdulwahid, director of the Tourist Police Department, said the patrols operate in popular tourist destinations and busy areas, so residents and visitors can meet officers and learn about police services. He also highlighted private-sector partnerships in developing the fleet.

The Temerario follows a long run of headline cars. Complete Car notes the fleet has previously included a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77 and Lamborghini Aventador. It also joins the Lamborghini Urus Performante in the force’s green-and-white livery. That Lamborghini relationship goes back years: Dubai Police received the Urus in full livery, complete with flashing lights.

Martino Picotti, general manager of Lamborghini Abu Dhabi and Dubai, said the Temerario was the latest addition to the carmaker’s collaboration with Dubai Police. Dubai Police haven’t said where they’ll station the car first. If you’re after another electrified performance car with a UAE angle, see our piece on the Porsche Cayenne Coupé Electric.
