The Method film has wrapped production in the New York and New Jersey area, with Harvey Keitel playing a celebrated acting teacher in Indian director Gaurav Bhardwaj’s first feature. The drama is expected to arrive in 2027, according to Variety’s report.
The story follows an Indian actor pursuing his craft in New York’s competitive acting scene. He falls under the influence of Keitel’s teacher as ambition, friendship and artistic ideals pull the group in different directions. Variety describes the central artists as an Indian actor, a Canadian actor, an American playwright and director, and the teacher played by Keitel.
Keitel is joined by Mina Sundwall, Rakshit Bhuchar and Rohan Maletira. Bhuchar and Maletira are making their feature debuts, while Bhardwaj co-wrote and directed the film. Bhardwaj told Variety the characters carried personal weight because parts of their creative struggles had echoed his own career.
The Method film brings together Indian and US talent
The casting gives the drama a cross-border setup without moving it from its New York setting. The project is an English-language feature, according to Travelin Bone Entertainment’s June production announcement, which first introduced Bhardwaj and Bhuchar’s collaboration. That earlier announcement did not name Keitel or Sundwall; Variety’s October report supplies the later cast update.
Travelin Bone previously co-produced Netflix’s CTRL, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and starring Ananya Panday, the company said in June. It is making The Method with Imagination Infinite Motion Pictures. The film’s focus on an Indian actor working in New York sits within a production its backers have framed for audiences in India and internationally.
Production wrapped, with a 2027 release expected
