Resident Evil director Zach Cregger has backed the Christina Hendricks Lady Dimitrescu casting idea for a hypothetical live-action adaptation of Resident Evil Village. Hendricks is not joining Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil film, and Lady Dimitrescu is not part of its original story.

Cregger gave the answer during an interview with IGN, after being asked who he would choose for the role. “Christina Hendricks,” he said. “That feels about right to me. What do you think?”

Christina Hendricks Lady Dimitrescu casting: Cregger’s pick

The answer is a piece of fan casting, not a casting announcement. Cregger’s film follows an original protagonist and does not use the established game characters, a choice he has previously explained as a way to avoid taking over stories the games already tell well. Tbreak has previously covered Cregger’s effort to win over Resident Evil fans, as well as his early ideas for Resident Evil sequels.

A CBR report also quotes the exchange and notes that Hendricks is best known to many viewers for playing Joan Holloway in Mad Men. The suggestion has an obvious visual logic: Lady Dimitrescu is a towering, theatrical villain, while Hendricks has the screen presence and period-drama experience to make the idea easy to picture.

Cregger’s Resident Evil film stars Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier caught in a viral outbreak. It is separate from Resident Evil Village, where Lady Dimitrescu became one of the franchise’s most recognisable characters in 2021.

Lady Dimitrescu is not in the new Resident Evil film

There is no indication that Hendricks has been offered the role, or that Lady Dimitrescu will appear in a future Cregger sequel. The director has discussed ideas for potential follow-ups, but those remain plans rather than confirmed projects.

For now, Christina Hendricks Lady Dimitrescu casting exists as a hypothetical that Cregger approved in a single sentence. It is a solid answer, even if the hat would need its own billing credit.
