Why did Capcom’s quarterly sales grow?
Capcom’s quarterly growth came from combining a successful new release with sustained sales across its established catalogue.
For the quarter covering 1 April to 30 June 2026, Capcom reported net sales of ¥70.41 billion ($430 million), up 54.7% year-on-year. Operating profit reached ¥41.05 billion ($250 million), an increase of 66.9%.
As detailed in VGC’s report on Capcom’s quarterly results, the publisher sold 23.81 million game units during the period, compared with 14.16 million a year earlier. The figures are drawn from Capcom’s own financial reporting.
How many copies has Resident Evil Requiem sold?
Resident Evil Requiem has passed 8 million worldwide sales, according to Capcom.
The company also says five older Resident Evil games each sold at least 1 million copies during the quarter. Capcom attributes the series’ continuing catalogue performance partly to pricing initiatives, showing how discounts can extend the revenue life of established games.
| Game | Reported lifetime sales |
|---|---|
| Resident Evil Requiem | More than 8 million |
| Resident Evil 2 remake | 19.75 million |
| Resident Evil 7: Biohazard | 18.41 million |
| Resident Evil 4 remake | 16.04 million |
| Resident Evil Village | 15.86 million |
| Resident Evil 3 remake | 14.52 million |
Pragmata has meanwhile surpassed 2.5 million worldwide sales, Capcom says. Its performance gives the publisher an additional property beyond the franchises dominating its catalogue, though the precise milestone has not been independently corroborated by public unit-level tracking.
Devil May Cry 5 offers another example of catalogue value. It sold 1.29 million units during the quarter, taking lifetime sales to 14.24 million. Capcom attributes that recent performance to the second season of the Devil May Cry anime currently airing on Netflix, although that causal link is the company’s own assessment.
What does Capcom’s unchanged forecast indicate?
Capcom’s unchanged full-year forecast indicates that management sees the strong quarter as consistent with its existing plan rather than grounds for raising expectations.
The company still forecasts net sales of ¥210 billion ($1.28 billion), up 7.5% year-on-year, for the financial year ending March 2027. It also expects operating profit of ¥83 billion ($506 million), which would represent growth of 10.2%.
If this model holds, Capcom should continue pairing major launches with pricing initiatives and adaptations that renew interest in existing games. Its quarterly figures suggest that value is accruing across the portfolio, with new releases attracting demand and older properties continuing to convert recognition into sales.
