Apple’s reported foldable iPhone plan now extends through 2028, with a second-generation model tipped for 2027 and a larger third-generation version in development for 2028. The roadmap, reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and detailed by 9to5Mac, remains unconfirmed by Apple.

Foldable iPhone plans reportedly run from 2026 to 2028

The first foldable iPhone is expected to arrive at Apple’s 9 September event, reportedly as the iPhone Ultra. Bloomberg says it will have a large inner display, a smaller outer screen, Touch ID, an advanced hinge and a crease that is less visible than on earlier foldables. The reported US price is above $2,000; Apple has not confirmed a UAE price or launch date.

The second-generation foldable iPhone is already well into testing, according to Gurman. The only new detail reported so far is a new chip, with the device expected in 2027 alongside Apple’s anniversary iPhone Pro models.

That timeline matches tbreak’s earlier foldable iPhone roadmap report, although the latest report adds more detail about the first model and the wider product pipeline.

Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone is also tipped for 2027

Apple’s 2027 Pro phones are reportedly being prepared with curved glass around the corners and edges, plus thinner bezels. Gurman described the redesign as the biggest overhaul to the iPhone Pro line since the iPhone X. The report does not establish the final design, name or price.

Tbreak previously reported that Apple’s glass-centric anniversary iPhone remained on track for 2027, based on Gurman’s earlier reporting. That earlier report remains useful context, but the new roadmap places the anniversary model alongside the second foldable rather than treating it as a standalone release.

The 2028 model is expected to be a third-generation foldable with slightly larger displays on both the outside and inside. Exact screen sizes, pricing and availability have not been reported. Apple’s plans can change before any of these products reach stores.

Apple’s September event is already covered in tbreak’s guide to the 2026 Apple event, including the UAE broadcast time and current launch expectations.
