A test build of Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake for jailbroken PS5 got through the first dungeon in one 33.7-minute run. Vampinity posted the build to GitHub on 7 November.

Nintendo only released the Ocarina of Time remake on Switch 2 on 5 November 2026, but within two days, unofficial versions were running on PC, PS5, and an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The PS5 and iPhone versions aren’t practical to play yet.

Vampinity’s release is an emulator build, based on viejunerd’s EglantinePS5 v1.219.020, and its author calls it rough. The test ran on one base PS5 on firmware 12.40 with game version 1.1.1. The best run started from a save in Kokiri Forest and beat the first dungeon’s boss. It lasted 33.7 minutes without a freeze, before the app ran out of memory after the warp cutscene. Nothing past that cutscene was tested.

That is one good run on one console, not what to expect every time.

Earlier builds fared worse. The first launch builds shaders and can run out of memory after a few minutes, and two earlier test builds stopped at 468 and 125 seconds. Vampinity says screen flashing is much reduced, but dark one-frame glitches remain. TechPowerUp, which reported the ports first, described the PS5 version running out of memory “a couple of minutes in” at roughly 15 to 20fps. That’s much shorter than the 7 November build’s run.

The PS5 needs the Relapse jailbreak, which covers firmware 7.00 through 13.60, plus a working EglantinePS5 install. Players also need their own legally obtained game, keys, and firmware, none of which the build includes. The author warns it can crash or freeze the console. A second PS5 effort, ProsperoEden, is a separate emulator and remains private.

On iPhone, developer Joe Jiang showed Kokiri Forest running on an iPhone 17 Pro Max, but he hasn’t released his port. According to Jiang, memory was the hardest part: the game wants about 9GB, while a single iPhone app is capped at 8,192MB. VideoCardz reports his claim that he cut peak memory use during scene transitions to about 3.4GB without lowering graphics quality.

The game had reportedly been dumped before launch, a route the first Switch 2 jailbreak opened up. The Lichii emulator had the remake running on PC on launch day. Jiang says his method could bring any Switch or Switch 2 game to iOS, iPadOS, Apple TV, Android, and HarmonyOS.
