Nintendo Shows Ocarina of Time Remake Gameplay

Nintendo has shown the first gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, with the game now set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 November. VGC reports that the footage covers Kokiri Forest, the Great Deku Tree and Hyrule Castle Town, while Nintendo’s official game page confirms the Switch 2 release.

The remake gives Link a dedicated jump button instead of making him automatically leap at ledges. The footage also shows redesigned clothing built from materials found in Kokiri Forest, motion controls for aiming the slingshot, and the return of Navi as Link’s fairy companion.

Hyrule Castle Town is now fully explorable with a free camera, and night can arrive there. Nintendo is also adding Threads of Time, a menu feature that records Link’s progress through the adventure and fills in a tapestry as milestones are reached.

What changes in the Ocarina of Time remake?

Link can hum songs he has already learnt and have them played in the game. Nintendo is retaining loading screens between some areas, including the transition from Kokiri Forest to Hyrule Field, as a nod to the original Nintendo 64 version.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Nintendo’s store listing confirms a 2026 release, while the new gameplay presentation gives that window a precise date: 5 November. The remake follows the 2011 Nintendo 3DS remaster of the 1998 classic.
