Microsoft Copilot Canvas is coming to Excel as an interactive dashboard view that turns workbook data into charts, metrics and insights. Unlike a static summary, the Canvas is designed to stay connected to the workbook and update when the underlying data changes, according to Windows Latest.

Microsoft describes the feature as a Copilot-generated canvas for a “polished, interactive view” of workbook information. Users will be able to change the canvas by chatting with Copilot, while the view refreshes as the source workbook changes. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 roadmap item 569424, which was added and last modified on 1 September 2026.
Microsoft Copilot Canvas keeps Excel dashboards connected
Excel already lets Copilot identify trends and outliers, create PivotTables and charts, edit existing charts and generate templates from prompts. Microsoft Copilot Canvas brings those jobs into one dashboard-like view rather than leaving the user to assemble the pieces across a workbook.
The distinction is practical for teams working from shared financial, sales or operations spreadsheets. A dashboard built from a live workbook can reflect later edits or refreshed data instead of becoming a screenshot of the moment it was created.
When will Copilot Canvas reach Excel?
Microsoft says the feature will begin rolling out in the coming weeks. The roadmap entry is an estimate, and Microsoft notes that release information can change. The company’s roadmap description is available on the Microsoft 365 roadmap.
The update should be relevant to UAE businesses already using Microsoft 365, although the sources do not provide a UAE-specific release date, licence requirement or price.
