ENOC Group opened a checkout-free ZOOM store opposite City Walk, running Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. City Walk is a Dubai leisure development. ENOC, the Dubai energy group behind the ZOOM shops, calls it the system’s first deployment in the Middle East.

Here, customers pick what they need, tap a payment card or mobile wallet to exit, and leave without a checkout counter. Behind the scenes, AI and computer vision identify the products shoppers take or return to shelves, keeping a virtual record of what they bought.

Convenience stores have operated the same way for decades: customers select their items, join a queue, and wait to pay. Just Walk Out technology by Amazon removes that final step.

ENOC pitches the store at customers who “value speed, convenience and flexibility”. The move is part of a wider push to make its service stations one-stop shops. Ali Khalid Bin Zayed Alfalasi, ENOC Group’s Deputy Chief Commercial & Retail Officer, called the launch “an important milestone” for the company’s network.

The regional first applies to Amazon’s system, not to checkout-free shopping itself. ITP notes that Majid Al Futtaim’s Carrefour City+ store brought checkout-free retail to Dubai in 2021, though it’s unclear whether that store used Just Walk Out.

In October 2025, ENOC and Amazon UAE announced a strategic collaboration that also covered using ENOC sites as quick-fulfilment hubs and selling ENOC’s range on Amazon.ae. That agreement said Amazon would explore bringing Just Walk Out to ZOOM stores “across select locations”.

Neither company has named another ZOOM store with Just Walk Out, or a timeline for one. The store across from City Walk is the only one either company has named.
