Dukkani, a free Saudi cashier and debt book for neighbourhood shops, now has full English, Bengali, and Urdu walkthrough pages. Each has a demo that needs no account.

Dukkani says the walkthroughs mean a shop worker from Pakistan or Bangladesh can learn the cashier in his own language. The company says the app works in Arabic, English, Urdu, and Bengali for the same reason. It also said shops can move their items over from an old system with an Excel or CSV import.

The debt book is the more unusual part. Dukkani says a grocer photographs a page of his handwritten Arabic debt book, and the app reads the customers’ names and amounts into a list. The grocer checks them before they’re saved. The company hasn’t said how accurate the reading is. Dukkani also says a grocer can record a debt by telling the app what happened. The Urdu page shows this as typing a short line, such as “Abu Fahd 25” or “2 Pepsi cash sold”.

Dukkani doesn’t have a Google Play or App Store listing. Instead, it opens in a browser on Android phones, iPhones, and computers, and users add it to the home screen. Its About page says the basic app is free, with no time limit and no card. Busy shops can take an optional monthly subscription, which removes the monthly limit on new sales and debts.

The company also says the app connects to ZATCA (Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority) through Fatoora, the authority’s e-invoicing system, and automatically sends every invoice and return. That’s Phase 2, the integration stage ZATCA has rolled out to businesses in waves since 1 January 2023. The About page, however, says the paid subscription is what opens the ZATCA link.

Separately, Claude lists Dukkani in its connector directory as a community connector. Its connector page says Claude can search Dukkani’s directory of over 9,000 shops in more than 130 Saudi cities. It can also prepare an order link. The tools are read-only, and nothing is sent: the customer checks the order and sends it on WhatsApp.

Dukkani is adding Urdu and Bengali for the workers who run the till. WHOOP went the other way, launching an Arabic app experience for its GCC members. Anyone curious can try the cashier with no account.
