The Witcher 3 Remastered will include mods made by the community, and the creator of one of the game’s most famous visual overhauls has confirmed he worked directly with CD Projekt Red on it. HalkHogan, who built the HD Reworked Project, announced the collaboration on the Nexus Mods forum.
“It’s been a while since the last news and I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the Witcher 3 Remaster and my work will be officially available in the game on September 29th (on PC and consoles), HDRP will no longer be needed.”

The translation: his reworked visuals are part of the official build, so players get them on any platform without installing a mod. The HD Reworked Project — or HDRP — stops being a separate download.
HalkHogan’s work is officially in the game
“Almost all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armors and equipment for Geralt & Roach, and a large part of the environment have been reworked and I’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest quality.”

That covers most of what makes up the world: characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armour and equipment for Geralt and Roach, plus large parts of the environment.
A familiar arrangement with CD Projekt Red
This is not the first time the studio has used his work. HalkHogan’s original HD Reworked Project — now dubbed the “OldGen Edition” — was incorporated into The Witcher 3’s next-gen update in 2022, before CD Projekt Red committed to a full remaster.
The Witcher 3 Remastered arrives September 29 — free
The remaster lands on September 29 as a free upgrade for owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC, with both expansions included at no extra cost. CD Projekt Red showed extended gameplay during its Gamescom 2026 stream, reported by VGC, and Geralt is also set to appear in Diablo 4 as an in-game skin. The Songs of the Past DLC follows in 2027, ahead of The Witcher 4’s 2028 launch.

On PC and consoles, the upgrade is free for everyone who already owns The Witcher 3 — including UAE players, who pick it up through the usual PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo storefronts.
