TheGamer reports someone played the Ocarina of Time remake on Halloween, five days before its 5 November launch. The site says a Reddit user posted a screenshot of the Switch 2 home menu.
What leaked from the Ocarina of Time remake
TheGamer says Reddit user u/Robnaratt34 posted the picture, with gameplay and dialogue photos in the comments. The user also answered fan questions about details Nintendo hasn’t officially shown.
Other commenters began sharing screenshots too. Twistedvoxel reports the original poster described combat as slightly better than the original game, and said the story and puzzles look largely intact.
How the copy got out
The user claims they bought a physical cartridge on Facebook Marketplace. It’s unclear how the seller got it. TheGamer says a third-party retailer may have broken the street date, though stolen stock is possible.
Notebookcheck reports stores started receiving stock. It also says it’s unknown whether a day-one update will be required.
TheGamer says Nintendo quickly issues copyright strikes and takedowns for pre-launch footage. It also notes that the Switch 2 emulator Eden-NX2 just went public. The site says it runs games like Mario Kart World, though roughly.
How to avoid spoilers
Early copies can mean clips and screenshots spread fast, as with the Resident Evil Requiem spoilers that surfaced when stores sold it early. Mute keywords such as “Ocarina of Time” and “Zelda” on X, Reddit and YouTube. Avoid Zelda forums and comment sections until you’ve finished the game.
Notebookcheck says Nintendeal noted spoilers likely wouldn’t be as devastating here, because the studio has mostly stayed faithful to the N64 original.
What Nintendo has confirmed
