Qualcomm has officially teased two new Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, widely expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, with the reveal set for Snapdragon Summit on September 22.

In a post on X, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon account promised “Dual 8 Elites” and “twice the options”, pointing to the latest connectivity, “extraordinary” GPU performance and “immersive” gaming.

“The next chapter of the agentic AI era begins at #SnapdragonSummit. When Two Changes the Game. See the reveal on September 22.”

Snapdragon on X

Android Authority reports the teaser stops short of naming the chips. Months of leaks fill the gap: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is said to pair a 2nm TSMC design with an octa-core Oryon CPU (2+3+3), an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of dedicated memory and LPDDR6 support. The standard Gen 6 reportedly sticks to 3nm, the same CPU layout at lower clocks, an Adreno 845 with 12MB of dedicated memory and LPDDR5X.

The Pro’s rumoured price hike

The Pro chip is expected to cost Qualcomm’s partners considerably more than the current Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, per Android Authority’s earlier leak coverage. Between the RAM shortage and a pricier flagship chip, some base flagships may ship with the non-Pro part instead. Qualcomm’s official Snapdragon Summit page has the event running September 22–24 in Maui, with the Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop line expected alongside.

What it means for the UAE

The chips will power the next round of flagship Android phones, and that round is the one the UAE market buys: Galaxy S27 series, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Honor and vivo flagships all ride Snapdragon 8 Elite silicon. Our Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 coverage set the pattern — those phones landed in the UAE within days of the Summit.

If the Pro’s price hike lands, expect it at UAE retailers too. UAE pricing is not confirmed yet — last year’s Summit came and went before the first UAE price tags appeared, and the same gap will follow this time. The Pro is also rumoured to arrive alongside a Samsung Foundry-built variant for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, per Notebookcheck.

What is Snapdragon Summit?

Qualcomm’s annual launch event, where it unveils its flagship mobile, laptop and XR chips. This year it runs September 22–24 in Maui, Hawaii, and the company’s teaser promises ‘the next chapter of the agentic AI era’.

Which phones will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6?

The usual flagship line-up: Samsung’s Galaxy S27 series, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Honor and vivo. The Pro is also rumoured to be joined by a Samsung Foundry-built variant for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Will the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro cost more than the Gen 5?

Qualcomm has not announced pricing, but leaks point to a significant hike over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, driven partly by the global RAM shortage. Some base flagships may use the non-Pro chip to hold prices down.
