Samsung Display has unveiled the world’s first 300Hz OLED laptop panel: a 16-inch 2.5K display for high-end gaming laptops, shown at the IMID 2026 expo in Busan this week.
The panel runs a variable refresh rate of up to 300Hz in a 16:9 layout. Previous laptop OLEDs have stopped at 240Hz, a ceiling LCD gaming laptops have been clear of for years — SamMobile reports Samsung expects several major brands to adopt it. Brightness figures have not been disclosed; HDR support is expected, and the usual OLED selling points — true blacks, pixel-level backlight control, infinite contrast — apply.
What the 300Hz OLED laptop panel means
The refresh rate is the one spec where laptop OLEDs have trailed the LCD crowd: 240Hz against 360Hz-plus. Samsung has closed that gap in one step.
And the monitors
Samsung also showed two QD-OLED gaming monitor panels. The 31.5-inch unit pairs 4K resolution with a 360Hz variable refresh rate — a combination Samsung’s newsroom says is a first for monitor panels — and the 34-inch panel is a 21:9 ultrawide at the same 360Hz.

IMID 2026 runs until 21 August at BEXCO in Busan. Samsung Display is presenting 57 papers there, the most of any exhibitor, and its Galaxy S26 Ultra OLED took the show’s Display of the Year award, per The Elec. The rest of the booth leans further out: a 7.6-inch Wide View foldable OLED, a 20-inch stretchable panel, an eye-tracking humanoid display, a necklace-style AI OLED pendant and an OLED turntable — a line-up that suggests display technology has run out of sensible shapes.

What this means for laptop buyers in the UAE
Samsung has not said which laptops get the panel, or when. Panel announcements typically take a product cycle to reach retail machines, and the first 300Hz OLED laptops will land in the flagship tier sold here — the same tier as the dual-OLED ROG Zephyrus Duo, which reached UAE shelves at AED 33,999. Samsung’s own Odyssey OLED monitors, already available in the region, gained G-SYNC compatibility for 2026.
When those laptops arrive, they will come through the usual local channels: ASUS, Lenovo, Razer and the rest sell their flagship gaming lines here.
