NVIDIA has announced the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a new entry-level robotics computer for edge AI that doubles inference performance to 78 TOPS and uses 40% less power at the same workload,
The module carries 78 trillion operations per second of AI compute, 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and an eight-core Arm Cortex-A78 CPU in the same compact form factor as the current Nano line. In 15-watt mode it matches the Jetson Orin Nano Super while drawing 40% less power, and NVIDIA pitches it as a drop-in upgrade for existing Orin systems running the same open software stack.

The argument is that compact open models have caught up with the largest models of a year ago, which puts frontier-class reasoning on hardware that fits in a drone or a domestic robot. More than 3 million developers already build on NVIDIA’s robotics stack, and early adopters include Cognex, Doosan Bobcat, Matic and Wing, Alphabet’s delivery-drone subsidiary, The Robot Report reports.

What it means in the UAE
The Jetson Orin Nano 2 is aimed at developers rather than shoppers, and the region has a market for it. Dubai-based TierOne is an authorised NVIDIA Jetson provider serving robotics, industrial IoT and smart-city projects, and the UAE’s robot and AI ecosystem has been growing alongside its physical-AI ambitions. The new module should reach local developers through established channels when it ships next year.
How much will the Jetson Orin Nano 2 cost?
NVIDIA has not announced pricing. The current Jetson Orin Nano Super developer kit launched at US$249, which sets expectations for the entry-level price point.

TOPS stands for trillion operations per second, a measure of AI compute. 78 TOPS is roughly double the 67 TOPS of the Jetson Orin Nano Super it replaces.
