Garmin has not confirmed anything. It announced the event without naming a product, and its email invitation promised “a launch that’s as striking as it is strong.” But the timing matches the August 2024 event that introduced the Fenix 8, and the rumour trail is unusually well-marked. Garmin Rumors, which has tracked the launch for weeks, expects the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro to arrive together this time, rather than staggered like last generation.
What the leaks point to
The expected lineup splits three ways: a standard Fenix 9, a Fenix 9 Pro and a Fenix 9 Pro inReach, in 43, 47 and 51mm sizes. The standard model is expected to stay AMOLED-only, with MIP Solar screens reserved for the Pro tier. The 51mm case is tipped to finally get a 1.5-inch display, up from the 1.4-inch panel the larger Fenix 8 reused from the 47mm watch.
The Pro tier is said to move to a full titanium body, dropping the polymer case construction for the first time in the line. Leaked product images surfaced over the weekend matching that split — dark, Fenix 8-style case sides on the standard model, bare metal flanks on the Pro — though their origin is unverified.
An Enduro 4 could join the launch, as the Enduro 3 did alongside the Fenix 8, but leaked retailer listings did not include it.
Garmin Fenix 9 pricing and the processor question
Eighteen Fenix 9 SKUs briefly appeared on Czech retailer SkiAndBike before being pulled, priced from roughly $1,170 for the 43mm base model to $1,570 for the 51mm Pro inReach in carbon — Czech prices including VAT, not US or UAE MSRP. US pricing is expected to land close to the current Fenix 8 range, which starts at $999.
The refresh is also overdue on the oldest part of the package: the Fenix 8 runs the same NXP processor as the 2022 Fenix 7, and owners complain the maps lag on it. A faster chip would be the most consequential upgrade of the lot.
What it means for the UAE
The 3 PM Dubai start time is a rarity for a global launch, and Garmin is a fixture on UAE wrists. The current Fenix 8 lists at AED 4,479 for the 47mm AMOLED at UAE retailers, and garmin.ae is clearing prior-gen stock — the 51mm Fenix 8 is discounted from AED 4,889 to AED 4,400. AED pricing for the Fenix 9 has not surfaced yet; expect it to follow the launch.
