Apple has started pulling forward delivery dates on some iPhone Duo pre-orders, and the first reports come from Japan, 9to5Mac reports. Pre-orders opened last Friday and the phone quickly became backordered into late January 2027, so an earlier date is a welcome reversal for anyone who assumed they’d be waiting until the new year.
Over the weekend, a range of orders in Japan began showing earlier estimates than Apple originally gave. In a post on X, Japanese tech writer Tobalog said his order, previously due in December, now shows 23 October. He wrote that it was now set to arrive on release day, and that he wasn’t ready for it.
He isn’t alone. 9to5Mac’s Dylan McDonald collected similar reports from other users in Japan whose shipping dates were bumped up, which suggests this is more than a one-off glitch on a single account.
The picture is still patchy. So far the new dates appear limited to orders placed directly with Apple, and Apple hasn’t commented on the changes. 9to5Mac says it’s unclear whether the update will roll out more broadly, though some orders arriving sooner than expected wouldn’t be surprising. It’s also possible the improved estimates are errors that Apple later reverts.
We haven’t seen reports of changed dates from the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Egypt yet. If you ordered directly from Apple, we recommend opening your order status in the Apple Store app or on Apple’s website, since a revised estimate would show up there first. Retailer and carrier orders don’t appear to be affected so far, so those dates are worth confirming with the seller.
Will my iPhone Duo delivery date move up too?
There’s no way to tell yet. The reports so far come from Japan, and Apple hasn’t said whether it’s adjusting estimates elsewhere or simply working through stock as it arrives.
Does this apply to orders from retailers and carriers?
Not as far as 9to5Mac can tell. The new dates appear limited to orders placed directly with Apple.
What if the earlier date disappears?
9to5Mac notes the improved estimates could be errors that get reverted. Until Apple confirms a shipment, treat the earlier date as provisional, and keep any plans that depend on the phone flexible.
