SwayvoTwain will play The Notorious B.I.G. in Snoop, Universal’s upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, which is due in cinemas on 6 August 2027. The casting was reported by IGN, with Variety and Billboard also reporting the news.
Snoop Dogg biopic casts SwayvoTwain as Biggie
SwayvoTwain, born Michael D’Angelo Archer II, is the son of D’Angelo and the late Angie Stone. The musician and songwriter has appeared in Family Legacy and Love & Neo-Soul: Honouring the Legacy of D’Angelo, but Snoop will be his first major film role, according to Variety.
IGN reports that it is unclear how much screen time SwayvoTwain will have. The film is directed by Craig Brewer, whose credits include Hustle & Flow and Song Sung Blue.
Who else is in Snoop?
Jonathan Daviss plays Snoop Dogg. The supporting cast includes Myles Bullock as Dr Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G, Tre Hale as Suge Knight, Laya DeLeon Hayes as Shanté Broadus, Olly Sholotan as Kurupt and Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg.
SwayvoTwain acknowledged the casting on Instagram with the caption, “It’s all good baby, BABYYY…”, a reference to the opening line of Biggie’s “Juicy”.
Universal has set Snoop for a theatrical release on 6 August 2027. No UAE cinema listing or local release date has been announced yet.
