Channing Tatum’s Gambit has a new voice, or at least a calmer version of the old one. In a Dunkin’ commercial tied to Avengers: Doomsday, IGN reports that the Cajun accent he used in Deadpool & Wolverine sounds slightly more serious. That suits a film that, going by the marketing so far, plays things straighter than a Deadpool outing.
According to Dunkin’s announcement, the ad, titled “MUNCHKIN Incursion”, features Tatum reprising Gambit alongside H.E.R.B.I.E., the Fantastic Four’s robotic companion. The setup is silly by design: Gambit reaches for an Iced Captain’ccino while H.E.R.B.I.E. turns up with themed doughnut holes, and the pair’s routine break goes sideways when worlds start to collide. CinemaBlend also noticed the change, saying the accent is way more toned down than in Deadpool & Wolverine. Marvel Updates posted a side-by-side of the two performances on X.
The shift fits what Tatum said he would do. Last year, he told Variety, as quoted by Yahoo, “I’m not gonna go full Cajun.” According to IGN, he said the directors want humour but don’t want to go full Deadpool, and that Gambit’s moments matter when he gets serious. Deadpool & Wolverine gave the character a deliberately over-the-top turn in a film built on silliness, so a more grounded delivery makes sense in a crossover that, as Marvel Studios’ Holly Frank put it in Dunkin’s release, brings heroes from three universes together.
How much Gambit will actually do in the film is still unclear. IGN describes his Deadpool & Wolverine appearance as a glorified cameo that fans loved, and notes Tatum had been cast as the character in a solo film in the 2010s that never got made. Marvel hasn’t said what his Doomsday role involves, and the ad isn’t a scene from the film, so the accent is a hint rather than a final judgement. For more Doomsday chatter, we’ve also covered whether David Harbour spoiled a major twist and an X-Men leak that was pulled offline after a copyright claim.
The tie-in itself is a US promotion. Dunkin’ says its Doomsday drinks, doughnuts and collectibles are available now at participating restaurants nationwide, and that four themed restaurant takeovers open in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Boston on 17 and 18 November. Avengers: Doomsday reaches cinemas on 18 December 2026.
