Fehr’s first look puts Ardeth Bay back in the picture
Oded Fehr says he will reprise his role as Ardeth Bay in The Mummy 4. The actor shared the update on his personal Instagram account on August 4, pairing a clip of Ardeth from the original film with a new image of himself in a makeup chair.
The image shows Fehr with a short haircut, neat beard, and Ardeth’s signature facial tattoos. It is more character tease than full costume reveal, but the tattoos do most of the work here. Some returning characters need a lengthy introduction; Ardeth Bay apparently needs a makeup chair and one very recognisable face.
Fehr first played Ardeth in The Mummy and returned for The Mummy Returns in 2001. His involvement brings another familiar character into a sequel increasingly centred on the cast and chemistry of those earlier films.
The returning cast is becoming a proper reunion
The Mummy 4’s announced returning cast includes Oded Fehr, Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah. Fraser is reprising Rick O’Connell, Weisz is returning as Evelyn Carnahan, and Hannah is back as her brother.
Fraser has already discussed preparing physically for the role while remaining cautious about revealing the story. His return as Rick O’Connell established the sequel’s nostalgic pull, and Fehr’s announcement makes that reunion feel considerably more complete.
Ardeth Bay was absent from The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Fehr previously said the character had no reason to appear without Imhotep as the villain, an explanation that has inevitably encouraged speculation about the new film. The casting announcement itself reveals nothing about Imhotep or the sequel’s antagonist.
The plot remains firmly under wraps
The Mummy 4’s plot has not been disclosed, and Fehr’s first-look image offers no story details. It confirms his intended involvement and Ardeth’s familiar appearance, but it does not identify the villain, setting, or circumstances behind the character’s return.
The film is currently scheduled to reach cinemas on October 15, 2027. No UAE-specific cinema or distribution details have been announced.
For now, the cast is the main event. Fehr’s return restores a character who helped define the earlier films, and the restrained reveal gives fans something tangible without spoiling whatever has dragged Ardeth Bay back into supernatural trouble.
