Game Freak promises continuous updates for Beast of Reincarnation after launch complaints

Game Freak has promised “a series of continuous updates” for Beast of Reincarnation, its new action-RPG, after players flagged performance problems, story pacing and subtitle text too small to adjust. The studio’s statement, posted on its X account the day after launch, is short on detail and long on intent: it is listening, and the fixes are coming in waves.

“Thank you for playing Beast of Reincarnation. We take your feedback to heart and are currently planning a series of continuous updates.”

Beast of Reincarnation launched on August 4 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and is Game Freak’s first original action-RPG in years — one human and one beast companion, no Pokéballs in sight. It had already had a rough run-up: the game was reportedly pirated three days before release, which we covered at the time.

The first patch lands within a week

Game Freak says the next patch will arrive within a week, and lists what players can expect:

• Camera adjustments
• Increased text size
• Story pacing improvements
• The default graphics setting changes from Cinematic to Performance mode
• Other bug fixes

Game Freak notes the patch contents are subject to change, and asks players to keep sending feedback through its support form.

The updates matter beyond Beast of Reincarnation itself. Game Freak has spent three decades making Pokémon, and this is its most visible attempt at a new flagship in a long time. How quickly it responds to launch-week criticism will set expectations for everything it ships next.
