The Division Resurgence, Ubisoft’s free-to-play looter-shooter, launches on Steam on August 5. The PC version arrives after the game’s worldwide mobile release in April and its early-access run on Ubisoft Connect, and it stays free to download on all of them.
What is The Division Resurgence?
A free-to-play third-person shooter set in the world of Tom Clancy’s The Division, with a new canon storyline that fills the gap between the original game and The Division 2. Players take on the role of newly activated Division agents during the Green Poison outbreak in New York City.
The game mixes a PvE campaign with the Dark Zone, the franchise’s high-risk PvPvE extraction mode, and Conflict, a PvP mode focused on map control. Five specialisations — Demolitionist, Bulwark, Field Medic, Tech Operator and Vanguard — bring unique skills, signature weapons and ultimate abilities, and squads of up to four can run missions together.

Steam launch details
The game has been in early access on PC through Ubisoft Connect; the Steam version lands on Valve’s storefront today. Free-to-play means no upfront cost; Ubisoft monetises through in-game purchases, as it does on mobile.
Steam players in the UAE can download it free from August 5, matching the mobile release that has been live locally since April.
