The Batman Part II May Have Just Dropped a Major Court of Owls Hint

The Batman Part II set photos are fuelling speculation that the Court of Owls and Anarky could appear in Matt Reeves’ sequel, although neither villain has been confirmed. New footage and photographs from the London production show Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne moving through a crowd of protesters outside a courthouse, with signs referencing the Court of Owls and a masked figure wearing an anarchy symbol.

The signs reportedly include phrases such as “Court of Oligarchs” and “Court of Fowls”, alongside messages about wealth and corruption. The references have prompted theories that the Court of Owls — the secretive organisation from DC Comics — could be part of the film’s story. GamesRadar+ reported the same imagery, while IGN’s report notes that the group’s involvement remains unconfirmed.

The Court of Owls was introduced in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s 2011 Batman comic-book run. The organisation’s alleged influence over Gotham would fit the sequel’s continued focus on the city’s corruption, but set decoration is not a plot synopsis, however much the internet would like it to be.

Why Anarky is part of the speculation

One masked protester appears to wear a jacket marked with a white anarchy symbol. That has led to speculation about Anarky, the alias most closely associated with Lonnie Machin, a politically driven Batman adversary in the comics. The symbol could be a deliberate reference, but it could also belong to an extra or a protest movement created for the scene.

Anarky has appeared in live-action television and animation, but not in a Batman feature film. Reeves has previously said the sequel’s villain is someone who has “never really been done in a movie before”, according to IGN’s report. That comment has encouraged several theories, but it does not confirm Anarky or the Court of Owls.

The Batman Part II release date

The Batman Part II is scheduled to open in cinemas on 18 February 2028. Variety reported that Warner Bros. moved the film from 1 October 2027 to give Reeves more time in post-production, with Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson.

IndieWire also reported the February 2028 date and noted that the gap between the two films will be almost six years. Warner Bros. has not released plot details confirming which of the suspected villains will appear.
