A Spider-Man: Brand New Day Leak Was Reportedly Seen by Millions Before Sony Removed It

The full-film leak spread faster than takedowns

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day bootleg remained on X for more than nine hours before the original upload disappeared. An account named Fredrick Bryan posted the video at 6:05 a.m. PT, and it was removed at around 3:25 p.m. PT.

Metrics displayed before its removal showed the post reaching 5.9 million accounts, attracting more than 143,000 likes, and being reposted 10,000 times. Those figures describe the post’s reach and engagement rather than the number of people who watched the entire film.

Several other accounts also uploaded copies, although most were removed quickly. Studios typically issue infringement notices when unauthorised copies appear, but widespread reposting can keep a film circulating while individual uploads are being taken down.

The incident followed a similar leak involving Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. That bootleg reportedly reached 2.1 million views within two and a half hours before its removal, while the account responsible was suspended. Universal told Variety that it had initiated takedown protocols and would pursue appropriate remedies to protect its intellectual property.

The UAE cinema release is already under way

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was listed for release in UAE cinemas on 30 July 2026. VOX Cinemas and Novo Cinemas both created local pages for the film, while Cinemauae listed showtimes and ticketing.

Sony Pictures lists Spider-Man: Brand New Day as an exclusive theatrical release. No official streaming launch forms part of the film’s initial release information, making cinemas the authorised way to watch it at launch.

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, with Zendaya returning as MJ. Sadie Sink appears in an undisclosed role, while Jon Bernthal and Jacob Batalon are also part of the cast. The full-film leak naturally carries a much greater spoiler risk than a stray trailer shot, so anyone planning a cinema visit may want to approach social feeds carefully.

The $72 million preview claim needs cautious handling

The reported $72 million preview total is an early figure rather than a final box-office result. It was said to include Tuesday early-access screenings and to exceed the $60 million attributed to Avengers: Endgame’s Thursday previews.

The record claim has yet to settle into the broader box-office picture, but the leak and the preview number point in opposite directions: one shows how quickly an unauthorised copy can spread, while the other suggests substantial demand for the theatrical release.

The clearest conclusion concerns the scale of the enforcement problem. A feature-length upload accumulated millions of impressions and thousands of reposts while takedowns were still in progress, giving copies time to move beyond the original account.
