Samsung has unveiled three new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors at Gamescom 2026 — the 49-inch G9, the 32-inch G8 and the 42-inch G7 — according to SamMobile. They are the OLED core of Samsung’s 2027 Odyssey line-up, which also includes a 27-inch non-OLED G6.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 runs up to 720Hz
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is the flagship: a 49-inch Dual QHD panel (5,120 x 1,440) with a 360Hz native refresh rate, 0.03ms response and peak brightness up to 1,300 nits. Samsung calls it the first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor at 360Hz. A Dual Mode toggle drops the resolution to 2,560 x 720 for up to 720Hz when motion clarity matters more than pixel count.
Both the G9 and the G8 use Samsung Display’s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem structure and RGB Stripe sub-pixels — a combination Samsung’s Gamescom release says roughly doubles panel lifespan and sharpens text by cutting colour fringing.
Odyssey OLED G8 and G7: 4K at 360Hz, and a curved 42-inch first
The Odyssey OLED G8 is a 32-inch 4K monitor with a 360Hz native refresh rate and Triple Mode support: QHD at up to 520Hz, or Full HD at up to 680Hz. It carries VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600 certification, DisplayPort 2.1, a USB-C port with 98W power delivery and a built-in KVM switch, plus the same FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC Compatible support as Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey monitors.
The Odyssey OLED G7 is the category first: a 42-inch curved OLED at 16:9, with 1000R curvature, 4K, 165Hz and a 0.03ms response. Samsung says it offers roughly 72% more screen area than the previous 32-inch model. Both new OLED screens carry Samsung’s Glare Free coating.
Samsung also showed a 27-inch Odyssey G6 that reaches 1,100Hz in Dual Mode — for the players who decided 720Hz left something on the table. It ships globally in the second half of 2026, joining the refresh-rate race that Acer’s 1,000Hz Predator kicked off earlier this year.
What the new Odyssey line-up means for UAE gamers
Samsung has not announced pricing or release dates for the three OLED models. The current-generation 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 sells for about AED 1,500 on Amazon.ae, and Samsung Gulf lists the Odyssey range on Samsung.ae — a rough benchmark while the 2027 line-up awaits local pricing.
“Players come to Gamescom to discover what is next, try new games, and experience the technology they need to stay focused and compete at their best,” said Hun Lee, executive vice president of Samsung’s Visual Display business.
