Marvel Television has announced Zodiac, a live-action spy thriller that will stream on Disney+ in 2028. Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise Brad Winderbaum revealed the series at New York Comic Con on 8 October, according to Marvel’s own announcement.
Production is due to start in London in spring 2027, and casting begins “in a couple weeks”. Beyond the first logo, little else was shared. “I can’t tell you anything else about it yet because it’s a secret,” Winderbaum said, as quoted by Marvel.
What we know about Zodiac
Confirmed so far: the title, the spy-thriller genre, the Disney+ platform, the 2028 window and the London shoot. There’s no cast, plot, episode count or release date yet. IGN notes the show seems likely to centre on SHIELD, but that’s the outlet’s inference, not something Marvel has said.
The Hollywood Reporter first mentioned the project last month, as a side detail in its report on the cancellation of Daredevil: Born Again, according to IGN. Marvel’s panel is the first official confirmation.
Zodiac is the first new live-action Marvel series announced since Ironheart, which premiered last year, Variety reports. The announcement follows a rough stretch for the studio’s TV arm. Wonder Man was cancelled a few months after its January premiere, despite a second-season renewal and an Emmy nomination for lead actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Fan speculation is already running
With a 2028 release, the show could land after Avengers: Secret Wars, IGN suggests. Samuel L. Jackson recently confirmed Nick Fury’s return in that film. On the TV side, Clark Gregg has already teased a possible link between Agent Coulson and Zodiac. Neither connection is confirmed by Marvel.
For viewers in the UAE, the series will arrive on Disney+, which recently launched a new app in the country. Marvel hasn’t given a regional release schedule, but Disney+ titles typically stream globally on the same day.
When will Zodiac be released?
Marvel has only said 2028 on Disney+. No month or date has been announced, and filming doesn’t begin until spring 2027.
Who is in the cast?
Nobody has been announced. Winderbaum said casting starts within a couple of weeks of the panel, so names may follow in the coming months.
Is Zodiac connected to the wider MCU?
Marvel hasn’t said. It’s a Marvel Television production, but links to existing characters or SHIELD remain speculation for now.
