Genesis has unveiled its first full-size flagship SUV, the GV90, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on August 19. The Genesis GV90 comes in two forms: the standard car, and the Neolun, which adds the Neolun Arch Gate — the world’s first hidden B-pillar coach doors, with front and rear doors that open independently and no pillar between them.

Removing the B-pillar meant re-engineering the body. Genesis replaced the pillar with high-strength dual steel beams in the doors, a cabin frame 1.5 times thicker than usual and a concealed roll cage, so the opening is vast and the crash safety still holds up.

Genesis GV90: power and battery

The GV90 carries a 123.5 kWh battery, the largest Hyundai Motor Group has fitted to any electric vehicle, driving twin motors with a combined 490 kW (657 hp) and 800 Nm. Genesis estimates around 500 km of range for the seven-seat version, and a 350 kW charger takes the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes, per Motor1.

Safety gets the flagship treatment too: 12 airbags, including the world’s first Roof Airbag, which deploys over the glass roof in a rollover. A dual E-LSD, multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering that turns up to five degrees round out the chassis.

Cabin that does the work

Inside, a pop-up 23.6-inch OLED display extends to 24.6 inches when parked, a 25-inch head-up display replaces the instrument cluster, and a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D system handles the audio. There is no start button; you press the brake.

The four-seat Neolun Executive Suite adds front seats that swivel 180 degrees, a wood-veneer second-row floor with radiant heating and a privacy partition. A two-tone First Edition of the Neolun launches alongside, limited and unapologetically exclusive.

“GV90 is not simply a new vehicle, but a new vision for luxury mobility that brings together inspiring design, AI-powered software and connectivity, and industry-leading safety.”

What it means for the UAE

Genesis is a familiar name here — Juma Al Majid distributes the brand in the UAE, with showrooms in Deira, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah — but GV90 pricing and dates for this market have not been announced.

Korea gets first sales in the second half of 2026, and previous Genesis launches have reached the UAE six to twelve months later. Pre-launch estimates from local car sites put the base around AED 275,000–350,000, which would sit it under the Mercedes EQS SUV and well above the Kia EV9. The electric Mercedes-Benz GLA is reportedly UAE-bound too, so the luxury EV field here is filling up.

Treat those figures as guesses until Genesis UAE says otherwise.

How much will the Genesis GV90 cost in the UAE?

Genesis has not announced UAE pricing. Pre-launch estimates from local car sites put the base around AED 275,000–350,000, with loaded Neolun versions nearer AED 450,000. The GV90 competes with the Mercedes EQS SUV and the Kia EV9.

What rivals does the Genesis GV90 face?

The GV90 is pitched at full-size luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes EQS SUV and Range Rover. The four-seat Neolun lines it up against the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, and Motor1 compares it with the Bentleys and Rolls-Royces of the segment.

What makes the GV90 Neolun different from the standard GV90?

The Neolun adds the hidden B-pillar coach doors, 24-inch wheels and a four-seat Executive Suite with front seats that swivel 180 degrees, a wood-veneer second-row floor with radiant heating and a privacy partition. The standard GV90 has conventional doors and up to seven seats.
