Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, is getting a new look at gamescom Opening Night Live — with its director front and centre.
Square Enix confirmed the segment in a post on the official Final Fantasy VII account. Director Naoki Hamaguchi will be involved, which per VGC points to more than a trailer: an on-stage appearance, and possibly further announcements, are on the cards.
The show, produced and hosted by Geoff Keighley, opens gamescom week in Cologne with the usual run of world premieres and trailers. This year’s edition airs on Tuesday, August 25 — 8pm in Germany, 10pm in the UAE.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation: release date and platforms
The trilogy finale is due in the first half of 2027, with Square Enix previously pointing to a spring launch, and still has no firm release date. It will be the first entry in the Remake series not tied to a timed console exclusive: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC get it on the same day.
Hamaguchi recently restated his position on the ending (the base game ends the trilogy’s story, full stop):
“The story will be concluded within the main game. We’re serious about concluding the series with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.”
Any DLC, he told Automaton, would be a character spin-off in the mould of Yuffie’s Episode Intermission — not an extra chapter bolted onto the story. Dataminers found an apparent “Story Expansion Pass” in an Epic Games Store listing last month regardless.
UAE players can watch the segment from 10pm on Tuesday, August 25; the show streams free on YouTube and Twitch via the gamescom and Geoff Keighley channels. The game itself arrives on all four platforms in the first half of 2027.
