Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Launch on All Platforms Simultaneously in Spring 2027

The concluding chapter of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will arrive simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in spring 2027.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Launch on All Platforms Simultaneously in Spring 2027

Square Enix has officially revealed Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final chapter of its Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. The game will be released in Sprin 2027 and, unlike the previous two entries, will launch simultaneously across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2026, bringing an end to speculation surrounding the title of the trilogy's concluding installment. The series began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake before continuing with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, with Revelation set to complete Square Enix's expanded retelling of the original game.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Launch on All Platforms on Day One

The simultaneous multiplatform release marks a significant change in Square Enix's approach to the trilogy. The first two games were initially released as PlayStation exclusives, but Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC from day one.

Trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the broader release strategy on stage during Summer Game Fest, describing the game as the culmination of the team's work on the remake project. He also revealed that the central theme of the final chapter is "resolve", as Cloud and his companions confront their respective destines and move towards the concluding battle.

Square Enix Says the Multiplatform Release Will Not Affect Quality

Square Enix had previously indicated that the third chapter would move beyond a PlayStation-first launch. Earlier this year, Hamaguchi also addressed concerns that developing the game for a wider range of hardware could result in compromises.

According to the director, supporting multiple platforms will not lower the quality of the final instalment. He explained that the studio already has experience optimising its games across devices with different performance levels, noting that even PS5 and PS5 Pro sit below high-end gaming PCs in terms of hardware capability.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will be particularly notable, given the technical demands of the previous games in the trilogy. However, Square Enix has not yet shared details on expected resolution, frame rate targets or whether any visual differences should be expected between platforms.
