Disney+ has updated its subscriber agreement to allow promotional content, sponsorships and advertisements before or after playback on every service plan, including the Premium tier that is marketed as ad-free for on-demand viewing.

The change was highlighted in an email sent to UK subscribers and reviewed by IGN. The message says Disney+ has “clarified that all service plans” may include promotional content, sponsorships and advertisements before or after playback, as well as in live, special-event and third-party content.

Disney+ Help Center branding used as contextual artwork for the updated advertising policy

Disney+ ads can now appear around playback on every plan

The wording does not say that Disney+ will insert conventional mid-roll commercials into every film or series. Disney’s official help page still says on-demand movies and shows will generally be free of commercial interruption, while allowing promotional clips, trailers, branded content, product integrations and sponsorship messages.

It does, however, give the service room to show advertising or promotional material before and after playback on plans that previously offered a cleaner viewing experience. Dexerto reported that the change covers the Premium tier, which IGN lists at $18.99 a month or $189.99 annually in the US. Those figures are not UAE prices.

Junior Mode remains the exception

Disney+ says Junior Mode profiles will not receive ads or promotional content under the revised terms. The agreement also leaves live and linear programming, special events and some third-party content outside the usual on-demand “no ads” promise.

Disney+ has not stated how often the new pre-roll or post-roll material will appear, or whether it will apply uniformly across markets. Subscribers must accept the revised agreement to continue using the service, according to the reports.

The Disney+ ads wording follows a wider expansion of Disney’s streaming bundle strategy, including Disney+ and OSN+ availability in the GCC. For now, the new wording changes what “ad-free” can mean more than it changes the promise of uninterrupted playback inside an on-demand title.
