Hayden Christensen says a man who broke into his home years ago recognised him mid-robbery, apologised and handed back everything he’d picked up. The Star Wars actor told the story at L.A. Comic Con on Friday 30 October, when a moderator asked for his strangest fan encounter, as The Nerd Wire reports from the panel. IGN picked up the tale over the weekend.

According to The Nerd Wire, Christensen was at home on a phone call, waiting for a friend, when the front door opened and footsteps headed upstairs. He assumed his friend was messing about, so he went to surprise him and found a stranger carrying an armful of his belongings. “I’m like, is this a delivery guy?” he said. “And I look and I’m like, this is all my stuff.” The man knew exactly who he was looking at, apologised repeatedly and returned the items, explaining he’d fallen on hard times and was trying to raise money for a ticket home.

Christensen didn’t call anyone. He told the man to come back the next day so he could drive him to the train station and buy the ticket, and he also took him upstairs and gave him clothes and a pair of shoes, because the man said he couldn’t land a job without something decent to wear. The offer went unclaimed, as the man never showed up. Christensen closed the story by telling the crowd not to try burglarising his house again, adding that he has great security cameras.

The panel covered more ground. Christensen named David Rice from 2008’s Jumper as the non-Star Wars role he’d most like to revisit, while saying a return is only a possibility.

The anecdote lands while Christensen is back in the Star Wars spotlight. IGN reports he returns as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2, and a Lucasfilm teaser shows Anakin challenging his former Padawan, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), as Grand Admiral Thrawn rallies the Imperial remnant. Lucasfilm says the season arrives on Disney+ on 20 January 2027.
